Meet our faculty
Professor L. Sam S. Manickam, a renowned Clinical Psychologist, is an Independent Researcher, Tele-psychotherapy Practitioner, and International Gestalt Therapy Trainer.As the Director of the Indian Psychologists Network, with over 20,000 members, he has been instrumental in advancing mental health practices in India. Over his four-decade career, he has held prominent roles, including Professor of Clinical Psychology at JSS Medical College, Mysuru, and Head of Clinical Psychology at Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai. His teaching journey also includes tenures at Christian Medical
College, Vellore, and a Visiting Fellowship at the University of Birmingham, UK. He was trained at NIMHANS, earned his Ph.D. from CP University, USA, and received advanced Gestalt therapy training at the Gestalt Education Network International,Germany.
An authority in Gestalt therapy, Professor Manickam has conducted workshops globally, including in Nigeria, Bangladesh, Iran, and Canada, and authored influential works such as Integrative Psychotherapy: Indian Perspective (2020). His article “Gestalt Therapy Practice in India: Initial Reflections” and research paper “The ‘New Now’ in Gestalt Therapy Training,” presented at the Hamburg Gestalt Research Conference (2022), reflect his significant contributions to the field. He is affiliated with esteemed organizations like the American Psychological Association and the Indian Association ofClinical Psychology and has collaborated with UNDP and WHO. A dedicated educator and practitioner, he continues to shape the future of psychology and Gestalt therapy through his innovative work and global outreach.
